Skiing in Mont Sutton

We had a great weekend skiing with some friends in the Eastern Townships. Just an hour and half drive from Montreal, we found a great little cottage to stay in, and had a wonderful couple of days in the snow. The skiing was fantastic, and the kids even got in on the act!

Six months

Made it to 6 months old! I love to sit up, bang blocks together, stand if anyone will help me get up, even better if they'll walk with me! Most of all, I love to watch my big brother and sister play, and I hope to join in more very soon!

Quebec City

Greg had some work to do up in Quebec City so we took the opportunity to visit this most European of Canadian cities once more, this time in the snow. We had a great time seeing the ice sculptures from the winter carnival, the snow in the old town, and the only ice hotel in Nth America!

 

Whistler

Last stop on our quick BC tour was a drive up to Whistler. The sea to sky highway lived up to its name and reputation with amazing scenery on the way. A short stay meant no skiing, but we did explore the Olympic Village and get some ice-skating in.

 

Nanaimo

The other main city on Vancouver Island, famous for its own dessert - the Nanaimo bar. Yummy but terribly bad for you. We wandered around the port and enjoyed the views of the mountains, walked through a beautiful headland park, and caught the feerry back to Vancouver with spectacular views on the way.

Victoria, Vancouver Island

We stopped over on the west coast on the way back to Australia for a visit, and took in the sights of Vancouver Island. It is beautiful, even in the rain (so warm for us at about plus 8 degrees!). We drove to Victoria via the ferry across from the main land, and visited Sooke before heading up to Nanaimo.

Montreal winter fun

Lots of snow = lots of fun.
We have tried to enjoy the winter here, despite the temperatures. Sledding, snowball fights and even a dogsled ride at the Fetes des Neiges are all part of the joy. Greg even spent a day skiing with friends on one of the hills nearby.

Visiting Ottawa

We went to the nation's capital for a weekend (a while ago now, I'm a bit behind), ostensibly to get a passport for the youngest member of our family but also to see the city. It was freezing, -20 degrees but we got to see the beautiful Parliment buildings, the Museum of Nature and History Museum (both of which were excellent). Here are a few pictures. The ice on all the trees was especially pretty at night in the city lights.
